Policing Domestic Violence

Laura was the lead author of the book ‘Policing Domestic Violence’ which she wrote with Simon Letchford and Sharon Stratton contains important chapters for all professionals working with victims and perpetrators including effective investigation, children as victims, serial perpetrators, risk assessment and management, and information sharing. It was published in November 2008 by Oxford University Press. It is a practical guide to policing domestic violence for all practitioners working in the field of public protection.

It offers core practice advice on areas of public protection including investigative techniques, the DASH Risk Identification Checklist, Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs), children and domestic violence, multi-agency domestic homicide reviews and honour based violence. Approaches to help identify victims early and target offenders through the effective use of intelligence are set out along with helpful case studies and checklists.

This book provides information on all practical measures which should be employed to protect victims and their children and hold offenders to account. It also underpins the DASH training.
